Intel Core i5 3317U is a ultra low voltage processor for the ultrabook notebooks. It is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture and thus, is made using 22nm manufacturing technology. It runs at 1.7GHz clock speed and overclocks to about 2.6GHz under turbo boost mode. There is 3MB of L3 cache. The 3317U is capable of handling 4 threads with its 2 cores. Features include Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, Virtualization VT-x, AES, Intel 64, Anti-Theft, My WiFi, Idle States, Enhanced SpeedStep, and Thermal Monitoring. TDP, like other Ivy Bridge and Sandy bridge processors is 17 watts. Graphics are handled by Intel HD 4000 GPU that performed pretty good in our benchmarks.
Here are the benchmark results of it. We compared it to Core i5 2467m, a very popular sandy bridge processor and Core i5 2557m, another Ivy Bridge CPU.
As you can see, the Intel Core i5 3317U is faster than all of them.
